What should you expect at your first visit?
Here are some things that may be good to know...
1. Arrive for your appointment 5 to 10 minutes early to fill out paperwork. Read over my policies before your appointment by clicking here.
2. I will bring you back and go over your paperwork, make sure and let me know if you have any areas of discomfort or areas you prefer not to be worked on. Click here for a list of all my products and their ingredients so you can be sure to let me know before we begin if you have any sensitivities or allergies. You are also welcome to bring your own lotion or oil for me to use during your session.
3. I will instruct you to undress to your level of comfort. Many people prefer to keep their underwear on during a massage, while others prefer to be nude. It’s up to you. Women usually remove their bras to allow the massage therapist to work on the back and shoulder area without getting massage lotion on the bra. Remember: licensed massage therapists must ensure that you are always properly covered by a sheet or towel, only the areas of your body they are working on will be uncovered.
4. I will leave the room so that you can remove your clothing and lie on the massage table under the top sheet. I will allow some time for you to ask questions before I leave the room.
5. Be sure and turn your phone on silent, remove all jewelry (necklace, glasses, rings, etc.), and use the restroom.
6. Please let me know at any time during the massage if the pressure is too much or too little. I will check in with you during the massage to ask about the pressure. When I am working on problem areas you may feel some discomfort. However, that discomfort is often described as “the good kind” of pain. “The bad kind” of pain will have your muscles tensing up and possibly make your massage more harmful than beneficial.
7. When your massage therapist is working on those problem areas that are causing some discomfort, try taking some deep breaths and relaxing your body as much as possible.
8. After your massage is over, I will leave the room for you to get dressed. Remember to take your time getting off the table, drink plenty of water, and don’t forget to schedule your next appointment!
